FAQs

  • Do you take insurance?

Crystal Clear Counseling is an out-of-network provider, which means that you pay upfront. However, most insurance companies do offer out-of-network benefits coverage. You will receive a superbill each month, including all necessary coding, that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

  • How do I choose the "right" therapist?

Finding the right therapist can be a lot like dating. Each therapist offers a different perspective and approach, so it’s important to do your research upfront and consider what factors are essential for you to feel comfortable. Most therapists understand this process and won’t take offense if you decide it’s not the right fit for you. They may even refer you to someone who might be a better match. If you’re considering setting up an appointment with me, feel free to email or call to arrange a 15-minute phone consultation first.

  • What can I expect in a session?

Sessions are typically scheduled for 50 minutes, although some benefit from additional time. We begin by checking in, deciding together what is significant for that appointment. I will offer structure to direct the session, but ultimately, the time is yours and you are welcome at any point to shape the session differently. It is always my intention to be aware of your experience and needs in a session, and I will work to tailor our time together to what is most significant for you at that time.

  • Will I be charged for missed sessions?

Because I schedule only one person per appointment time, each time slot is effectively closed once an appointment is made. At that point, it is no longer available to anyone else. Because of this, I require 48 hours' notice for any cancellation. Without advance notice, I charge a missed session the full fee, unless I have availability to reschedule you the same week.

  • Do you do teletherapy?

Yes. All sessions are teletherapy (telehealth) sessions until further notice.

Please inquire about periodic in-person sessions or walk-and-talk sessions.

  • What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

IFS is frequently used as an evidence-based psychotherapy, helping people heal by accessing and healing their protective and wounded inner parts. IFS creates inner and outer connectedness by helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts.

IFS is also a way of understanding personal and intimate relationships and stepping into life with the 8 Cs: confidence, calm, compassion, courage, creativity, clarity, curiosity, and connectedness. For more information, visit the IFS Institute.
